Article: The Rolling Library is officially on the move

The Rolling Library is officially on the move

Some things feel different when you finally see them in real life.

The Rolling Library is now out in the world, and honestly, seeing it there, surrounded by books and little readers, was a bit emotional.

This started as an idea that lived in our heads for a while. Something we talked about, imagined and hoped we could make happen.

Then suddenly, there it was. A little library. With wheels. That we get to fill with books. Ready for its first readers.

Why Rolling Library?

Perhaps because we know what a book can do. A book can take a child somewhere they've never been. It can introduce them to a person they've never met, a place they've never seen, or an idea they hadn't imagined before. Sometimes it can simply be a quiet little escape. And sometimes, one story can make a child believe that their own story could be bigger too.

That is what makes this project so special to us.

A very special thank you to Rey Bufi, Kuya Ricky of Happy Story Co. and The Storytelling Project for helping make this possible and for continuing to believe in the simple but powerful idea that every child deserves access to books and stories.

And to Teacher Djohanna and the children of the Dr. Augusto E. Hocson Elementary School, thank you for welcoming the library so warmly. Seeing the children explore the books and make it their own was the part we will remember most.

We don't know where every book will end up. We don't know which story will become someone's favourite, or which child will remember a particular book years from now.

But we know that every book has somewhere to go.

And now, the Rolling Library can help take them there.

This is only the beginning.

As we always say: onwards and upwards... Although, this week, we were more interested in onwards and rolling.
